At its’ core, this is a Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, 100% acute and residential trauma informed inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry position with very minimal call and a lot of flexibility with how you would like to practice.
You will be covering both acute and residential patients through the week. They are currently operating at 25 beds with a 10-bed center hall that can be used in terms of demand for acute care seeing patients ages 5-17. You will be seeing an average of 15-20 patients per day in the acute setting and an average of 1-2 admissions and discharges. There is always an NP on staff, Kristina, and she will do a lot of the admissions and discharges with sign-off from the physicians. She is quite a utility player within the group and can be relied on as such.
Dr. Prypchan is the other C&A Psychiatrist on staff and primarily works weekends, Thursday through Monday. She enjoys working children and she will see most of the patients under 10 and on the weekends, she runs everything. The incoming provider would only see her patients when she is gone, they will deal with mostly the adolescent population.
There is also a 30-bed residential wing of the building that houses patients with an average length of stay from 60-90 days depending on payor mix. The age range for the residential patients will be 12–17-year-olds. The NP also does some group therapy and runs 2 groups a week in the residential setting as well and could take on more groups if needed.
There is a lot of group therapy in the acute and the residential settings. The Medical Director currently runs an acute group every day in the mornings around 3 group therapies a week in the residential settings. Each group session can be different and is all based of the treatment models for each patient.
The call schedule will be very light, and the incoming provider can expect one call night a week from 5pm to 8am in the next morning. It would all be by phone only, very rarely would they need to come into the facility. This is also compensated time of $200 over night and the incoming provider has the option to pick up more shifts if they desire. Due to Dr. Prypchan being onsite all weekend there will be very few times, if any, that the incoming provider would need to come in.
Dr. Brown is also an independent practitioner and does like to bill for his time and this may vary in how the incoming physician wants to practice with an employed position.
This opportunity is unique as they want to bring on the new provider while the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Brown, is still on staff and have them be able to make a soft landing into the practice. They want to make sure the incoming physician is as prepared as possible and has the smoothest transition possible. They are always looking for new ideas and new directions.
The incoming provider will have a lot of freedom in organizing how they want to practice and really focus on the parts of their work that they are most passionate about. They will have the opportunity to step into a practice, learn the ropes and basically practice how they see fit. The work life balance is unmatched and the incoming provider can expect a great quality of life and have the ability to create the schedule they desire.
