Clinical Component

Clinical Component

In this practice you can expect to primarily see general ENT cases. Bayhealth is open to physicians coming in and building their practice around their area of subspecialty if desired. There is autonomy over your practice and the patient volumes. Dr. Catherine Wright (Kent Campus) typically sees 30-35 patients per day and Dr. David Roberson (Sussex Campus) typically sees 20-25 patients per day. Dr. Wright spends 3.5 days per week in clinic and 1.5 days per week in the OR. Dr. Roberson spends 4 days per week in clinic and 1 day per week in the OR. The 4 most common cases they see are tonsillectomy, septoplasty, ear tubes and sinus.

Call

Calls are triaged through Bayhealth’s call center. Dr. Wright and Dr. Roberson typically cover both hospitals while on night call, the campuses are about 20 minutes apart. Bayhealth has recently hired 2 ENT PAs, who will be helping with call. They are part of the call schedule (backed by Dr. Wright). Call is typically taken 1 week at a time. The call requirement as part of your guaranteed base is 6 days per month. Any call taken over 6 days is paid per shift. The call response time for ENT is 60 minutes. Generally, the physicians can work the patient into their schedule the next day and do not frequently go in at night unless it is emergent. Most complex cases can be referred to Christiana.

Competition

Bayhealth has the majority of the market share in Central and Southern Delaware. There is not much competition, as Bayhealth is the leading healthcare organization in the region.
