You will be working alongside Dr. Shiraz Hyder, who has been practicing in Bismarck since 1996, Dr. Tessa Marburger, and Nurse Practitioner Ms. Jerri Jo Stramer. Jerri Jo handles many inpatient consults and didactics for Dr. Hyder. Dr. Marburger practices in Williston, ND for three weeks each month and one week in Bismarck and while she is in Bismarck she averages 3 to 4 EMGs per day. Dr. Hyder mentioned that the wait time to get into his practice is more than three months, so you will have an opportunity to be busy in a very short time. His practice schedule is as follows:

There is no stroke call, as it is conducted via a telemedicine group based in Florida. Additionally, the hospital has a 24/7 intensivist program and a dedicated hospitalist program. You will not be admitting patients; the hospitalists will admit for you and consult as needed. When speaking with Dr. Hyder, I asked him, "When was the last time you had to come into the ED after 8pm?" He paused for a few seconds and said, "David, I don’t recall the last time I had to come into the ED after 8pm." I also asked how many calls he receives on average while on call. He shared, "It can be anywhere from 0 to 8 calls during the 5-day stretch of being on call."

Services include the diagnosis and management of conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, headaches, and other neurological disorders. Physicians have the flexibility to incorporate subspecialty interests, enhancing the variety of care provided. The practice utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including equipment for electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG), to deliver precise diagnostic services.

A significant highlight of the practice is its thrombectomy-capable stroke center designation, supported by 24/7 tele-neurology services for emergency and inpatient consultations. The practice is equipped with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) to streamline patient care and ensure seamless integration across the healthcare network. Support for specialized or focused practices is encouraged, with opportunities to build programs in areas like epilepsy care, given the department’s growing needs and the availability of advanced infrastructure.

Additionally, physicians may engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to a vibrant academic environment and supporting ongoing professional development.
