Meet Our Team

Taylor Delamarter, DO

Internist & Hospitalist Medical Director

Meet The Team

Your Hospitalist Team

You'll join a well-established hospitalist team that has found the right balance between stability and flexibility, experience and fresh perspectives. The core group consists of three full-time hospitalist physicians who form the backbone of daytime coverage, supported by five regular PRN physicians and two additional PRN physicians for schedule flexibility. This isn't a program hemorrhaging physicians every few months—this is a stable team where doctors choose to stay because the work is rewarding and the lifestyle sustainable.

Dr. Delamarter leads the hospitalist team as Medical Director, bringing both clinical expertise and administrative wisdom to the role. He practices alongside you and leads with a ground-level perspective. The team culture emphasizes collaboration over competition, work-life balance over martyrdom, and sustainable excellence over unsustainable heroics.

Hospitalist Physician Team:

  • 3 full-time hospitalists providing core daytime coverage
  • 5 regular PRN physicians offering consistent supplemental coverage and time-off flexibility
  • 2 additional PRN physicians available for scheduling needs
  • Medical Director: Dr. Delamarter (clinical leadership and scheduling oversight)
  • Team stability: Established program with consistent physician retention
  • Coverage model: Collaborative approach with shared census and mutual support
  • Call backup: Rotating call responsibilities distributed across the physician team

Advanced Practice Provider Support

Your clinical work is supported by a dedicated team of advanced practice providers who function as true force multipliers. Three full-time nocturnist nurse practitioners cover all nighttime admissions and floor care. These experienced NPs have only called a physician in overnight once in two years—a testament to their clinical judgment and competence.

During daytime shifts, two full-time physician assistants work alongside you, integrated into the workflow and helping manage the floor, assist with admissions, and support your clinical day. An additional PRN NP supports night coverage to ensure reliable staffing.

Advanced Practice Provider Team:

  • 3 full-time nocturnist NPs handling all overnight admissions and floor coverage
  • 2 full-time PAs supporting daytime operations and patient management
  • 1 PRN NP providing backup night coverage
  • Experience level: Seasoned providers with demonstrated clinical competence
  • Autonomy and collaboration: APPs manage routine cases independently, consult physicians appropriately
  • Integration: APPs function as integral team members, not as a separate service
  • Communication: Clear handoff protocols and collaborative decision-making

Nursing and Clinical Support Staff

The nursing staff at Good Shepherd reflects the same stability and commitment found across the organization. Nurses build long-term careers in community medicine and take pride in personalized, high-quality care. With reasonable nurse-to-patient ratios and supportive leadership, they function as an essential part of the clinical team.

You'll also work with dedicated case managers, responsive respiratory therapists, unit secretaries who manage workflow, and clinical pharmacists who offer support for antibiotic stewardship and therapeutic guidance. This cohesive team ensures you’re surrounded by professionals who see themselves as partners in patient care.

Clinical Support Team:

  • Nursing staff: Experienced RNs with reasonable ratios and strong unit culture
  • Case management: Active discharge planning and resource coordination
  • Respiratory therapy: 24/7 coverage for respiratory and ventilator support
  • Clinical pharmacy: Pharmacists available for complex medication guidance
  • Unit coordination: Support staff maintaining operational efficiency
  • Laboratory and imaging: Timely diagnostic results and technical support

The Broader Healthcare Team

As a hospitalist, you'll collaborate with surgical and specialty teams who value your role. General surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, OB/GYN providers, and procedural specialists work with you, not around you. This creates a partnership model that elevates patient care and builds mutual trust.

As specialty lines in cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, rheumatology, and neurology expand, you become part of a comprehensive and evolving team that maintains the accessibility and collegiality of a community hospital.

Specialist and Surgical Colleagues:

  • General Surgery: 3 surgeons managing trauma and general surgery
  • Orthopedic Surgery: 6 surgeons at the Orthopedic Center of Excellence
  • OB/GYN: 6 providers handling obstetric and gynecologic care
  • Gastroenterology: 1 gastroenterologist with endoscopic capabilities
  • Urology: 1 urologist for genitourinary conditions
  • Podiatry: 1 podiatrist handling complex foot and ankle issues
  • Cardiology: Expanding service line
  • Pulmonology: Growing respiratory and critical care team
  • Nephrology: Developing renal care and dialysis oversight
  • Rheumatology: Management of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions
  • Neurology: Telemedicine support and developing local service

Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine

9 CRNAs provide 24/7 anesthesia coverage for ten ORs and emergent airway management. Their responsiveness during codes and procedures ensures hospitalists have the support needed for critical situations.

The emergency department features two physicians per shift and Fast Track APP support, managing approximately 70 patients daily. Their collaboration with hospitalists is seamless, with clearly defined processes for admission and treatment planning.

Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine:

  • Anesthesia: 9 CRNAs with full OR and emergency airway coverage
  • Emergency Medicine: 2 physicians per shift with Fast Track APPs
  • ED volume: 70 patients daily (35% emergency, 65% Fast Track)
  • Trauma designation: Level III Trauma Center with surgical support
  • Critical care protocols: STEMI, stroke, and PE pathways in place
  • Telestroke: Neurology consultation available remotely
  • Collaboration: Strong ED-hospitalist-specialist partnership

Administrative Leadership and Practice Management

Tammy Bender, the Practice Manager, handles administrative functions including scheduling and resource allocation. She works with Dr. Delamarter to build predictable 30-day (soon to be 90-day) schedules that honor preferences and maintain team balance.

The health system respects physicians as professionals, not production units. You'll have meaningful input on policies and protocols and opportunities for leadership and quality improvement as the system expands.

Administrative Structure:

  • Practice Manager: Tammy Bender (admin and scheduling)
  • Medical Director: Dr. Delamarter (clinical leadership)
  • Scheduling approach: Collaborative, 30-day advance (moving to 90-day)
  • Physician input: Active role in policy, protocol, and program shaping
  • Leadership opportunities: Available within expanding system
  • System support: $300 million in assets and zero debt
  • Community ownership: Independent, locally accountable health system

A Team Culture Built on Mutual Respect

What truly distinguishes the Good Shepherd team is a culture of mutual respect and genuine collaboration. Nurses and physicians trust each other, specialists welcome input, and administrators support—rather than control—clinical care.

You'll join a team where collegiality is real, disagreements are respectful, and the focus is always on what's best for patients. This is a workplace where physicians build long-term careers, not just short-term escapes.
