Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Ochsner Health is adding a general urologist to its employed practice in Covington, Louisiana, on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain. This is a growth position built around clear, captured demand. The Covington practice currently runs with one employed urologist and two advanced practice providers starting, and the primary care referral base is large enough that urology business is currently leaving Ochsner to outside groups. Bringing on another urologist lets the practice keep that work in house.

You would join an established Ochsner system with deep specialty support on the South Shore in New Orleans, while practicing in a community setting close to home in Covington.

Why This Position Exists

  • Covington urology demand currently exceeds the single employed urologist on site
  • Ochsner and St. Tammany primary care both feed referrals into this practice
  • A meaningful share of those referrals is currently going to competing urology groups
  • A second employed urologist captures that internal referral volume

Candidate Focus

The practice is recruiting a general urologist. There is no requirement for a specific fellowship. A candidate with an interest in urologic oncology has a natural outlet through the cancer center work on the Covington side, where urology runs a multidisciplinary clinic alongside radiation oncology, but that interest is an option rather than a requirement.
