On average you will see 12 patients per day, with a maximum number of visits being 15. No set time for visits as ample time is allocated for you to optimally perform your duties. 5 to 10 surgical procedures occur each week in the entire department.

Each full-time provider will have an RN Case Manager that assists in coordinating patient care, visits, travel, and more.

Challenging Pathologies including advanced vascular pathology due to patients living in remote and underserved areas with less access to medical support systems. These patients live in areas without access to a PA, NP or MD and DO regularly which in turn creates advanced diseases and delayed diagnosis and treatment, which we attempt to combat through our field work and dedication to the individual when they are onsite in Anchorage.

Currently, our department does not interact directly with the on-campus CDC, however there is an opportunity for some research if a candidate is interested. A physician will find that this position offers true work life balance.

Tele-Cardiology

You will have a high volume of telecardiology. Consult requests are received and managed by the on-call physician for advice and consultations. Physicians schedule a half day for telemedicine consultations each week. 4 – 6 Patients on a half day per week with additional patients brought in as needed.

Field Visits

One of the more intriguing elements of this role is the amount of fieldwork we get to do for our beneficiaries that cannot make it to us in Anchorage. Roughly 6 times per year you will take a 3-day trip to see patients in our remote villages.

Locations include Bethel, Nome, Kotzebue, Kodiak, Sitka, Juno, Fairbanks, Barrow, Dillingham, Ketchikan and more across Alaska.

Device interrogations; echocardiograms, lab tests, follow-ups, etc; if identified pathology warrants arrange for a patient follow up visit to Anchorage for testing.
