Clinical Component

This clinic has 36 exam rooms throughout the entire facility and the physicians work in a pod system. Each pod has a private office for the physician as well as a suite of 3 exam rooms right next door as well as a nursing staff of 4 or 5. Right now, they have a vacant pod that is ready for an incoming provider to come in and make it their own from the ground up.

There are a lot of high acuity patients in this community and much of the patient population will be adults, (about 90%), but you will still see patients of all ages starting from age 2 though those will be few and far between. This clinic allows you to practice a true full scope family medicine and then some. This is not a place where the primary care physician does a lot of paperwork and just sends out referrals. If a referral is sent out those patients are delivered on a silver platter to the specialist. The staff here will do everything they can to treat the patient here but if they need to see a specialist even the next day, they make that happen. The people here rely on you and you’re able to use all your training rather than just bread and butter work.

This opportunity is very unique as it is a smaller clinic but boasts some fantastic testing capabilities you don’t normally find in community clinics of this size. They have a lot of imaging available with CT, Bone Density, Sonogram and X-ray all in-house. The CT has been extremely useful as they can figure out what is wrong with the patient, stabilize them and send them out to Dallas (Baylor University Medical Center) or wherever they need to go. They also have labs onsite that can be sent off and come back within 24 hours, most places comparable to this would take at least a few days to get results back. One of the reasons this is possible is being under the umbrella of the largest health care organization in Texas and all the resources that come with that. They have an integrated Epic EMR system as well that can access any patient medical records no matter what BSW site they visit.

They also have an abundance of specialty support that comes in throughout the week, which is another unique feature this clinic offers. The following specialties are scheduled to come in each week on specific days and all specialist providers are Baylor Scott and White employed.

Cardiology

  • Monday through Thursday – this can offer so much support as they do have some heart attack walk-ins that are able to be seen within their clinic.

Orthopedics

  • Monday – this is nice after football games on the weekends for bone breaks to be seen here on Mondays.
  • They do all the castings and some injections, but primary care providers still see a good number of injections themselves.

General Surgeon

  • Monday – great resource and luxury to have a surgical provider in house during the week to give expertise and knowledge to their staff.

Radiology

  • Tuesday – if anything needs to be sent out if will go to Touchstone, MRI for example will need to be done elsewhere about 20-30 minutes away. However, the same radiologists that are reading our patients scans are reading Touchstone’s as well.

Urogynecology

  • Wednesday
  • They also have a procedure room that has been used in the past for things like colonoscopies in the past.
