Cardiology Career Opportunities

Multiple locations currently require the expertise of a non-invasive cardiologist, and there is also a demand for a cardiology hospitalist at our flagship facility, Mercy Hospital. Below, you will find the specific job descriptions for each of these positions.

Hospital-Based Non-Invasive Cardiologist (Inpatient/Hospitalist)

  • Average of 15 shifts per month
  • Generous salary range: $450,000–$500,000 based on experience
  • Arrival bonus

  • Advanced Practice Providers to assist with consultations and hospital rounding
  • Access to state-of-the-art Catheterization and EP Labs, Arrhythmia and Open-Heart Surgical programs, and comprehensive Heart and Vascular Programs

Traditional Non-Invasive Cardiology Position

  • Full-time, employed position
  • Weekday shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm (10-hour shift)
  • Weekday Shift Structure:
    • 2 Rounding Physicians
    • 1 Graphics Physician (responsible for TEEs, Cardioversions, EKGs, Echos, and Stress—if assigned)
    • 3–4 APPs
    • MDs rotate weekly: 1 MD consults only; 2 MDs split consult and graphics days
    • Graphics monitored via scheduling system for fairness
  • Weeknight Call: Monday–Thursday, 4:30pm–7:00am
    • Covered by non-invasive cardiology
    • Hospitalists wrap up service issues before shift ends
  • Weekend Call: Friday 4:30pm–Monday 7:00am
    • 2 MDs (1 Card hospitalist, 1 Non-invasive Card)
    • 2 APPs on Saturday
    • Evening calls and diagnostic reads split by MDs
    • Weekend EKGs assigned to a dedicated reader
  • Generous salary range: $450,000–$500,000, with income potential up to $800,000
  • Procedures: TEEs, echos, loop recorders, and nucs
  • Stipend program for Fellows
  • Multiple office locations across the Buffalo/Niagara region
  • Access to advanced Cardiac and Vascular Programs
  • Team of 20+ Physicians and 22 APPs
  • APPs support physicians in consultations and rounding

Key Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible
  • New York State license (active or in progress)
  • Unrestricted federal & applicable state prescription authority
  • New and recent graduates encouraged to apply
