Position Overview

Your Gateway to Sustainable Outpatient Practice in Wyoming's Most Scenic Region

Imagine stepping into a role where your medical expertise meets the genuine appreciation of a close-knit Wyoming community, where you'll build lasting relationships with patients who value continuity of care over the revolving door of urban medicine. As a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician at Cody Regional Health, you'll discover what drew physicians to medicine in the first place – the opportunity to truly know your patients, watch their health improve over time, and practice comprehensive primary care without the burnout that plagues so many metropolitan practices.

This position represents a thoughtful expansion of Cody Regional Health's well-established primary care team, serving the growing healthcare needs of the greater Cody area and the Big Horn Basin. The hospital's service area encompasses not just the 10,000 residents of Cody itself, but extends throughout Park County and into the surrounding rural communities, where your expertise will fill a critical need for accessible, high-quality primary care. As the gateway to Yellowstone National Park, Cody experiences significant seasonal population variations, bringing interesting diversity to your patient panel while maintaining the stable core community relationships that make outpatient practice so rewarding.

Practice Structure That Prioritizes Your Well-Being

Your practice will focus exclusively on outpatient care for patients 18 and older, allowing you to develop deep expertise in adult medicine while maintaining predictable hours that respect your personal life. Unlike the fragmented care common in larger health systems, you'll enjoy the autonomy to manage your patient panel your way, supported by a collaborative team that values physician input and clinical excellence.

  • Board certification in either Family Medicine or Internal Medicine welcomed – the focus is on finding the right fit for the community rather than limiting to one specialty
  • Outpatient-only model with no hospital rounding requirements, allowing you to focus entirely on clinic excellence and patient relationships
  • Four-day work week structure (Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday) providing exceptional work-life balance while maintaining full-time compensation
  • Approximately 40 hours per week including administrative time, with clinic hours from 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Join an established team of two physicians and three nurse practitioners who have created a culture of mutual support and clinical excellence
  • Rural Health Clinic designation providing unique reimbursement advantages and operational flexibility
  • Collaborative care model with 1:1 physician-to-APP pairing for optimal patient access and provider satisfaction

Service to a Community That Values Primary Care

The Big Horn Basin's demographic shifts have created unprecedented demand for primary care services, with the 65+ population growing substantially and younger families increasingly choosing Cody for its quality of life. Your arrival will help address current three-month wait times for new patient appointments, allowing the practice to serve hundreds of community members currently seeking care. This isn't just about filling a position – it's about becoming an integral part of a healthcare system that serves as the medical home for ranchers, small business owners, park employees, and retirees who have chosen this remarkable corner of Wyoming for its authenticity and natural beauty.

This opportunity offers the increasingly rare combination of professional autonomy, sustainable practice patterns, and genuine community impact. You'll practice medicine the way it was meant to be practiced – with time to listen, ability to follow through, and the satisfaction of seeing your care make a real difference in patients' lives.
