The vision and mission of University High School have not changed much over the years because they adequately express exactly what the school aims to achieve. The vision speaks to what University High School tries to accomplish and the mission speaks to the path the school has chosen to achieve the vision. For the past 20+ years, University High School has grown into the crown jewel of education in the Central Valley, winning many awards for its academic achievement.
Clovis Unified schools have been named numerous times to the National Blue-Ribbon Schools Program (formerly the National Exemplary Schools Program) and honored more than 100 times as California Distinguished Schools (Currently California Blue Ribbon Schools). The District’s Title I schools have also achieved distinction through multiple recognitions as California Academic Achievement Award winners.
One of only a handful of districts in California to be named an Honor Roll School District by California Businesses for Excellence in Education, the District is also the only school district in the nation to have all five of its intermediate schools designated as Taking Center Stage – Schools to Watch.
University High School is a free public charter school that is located on the Fresno State University’s campus. They offer a college preparatory curriculum in a supportive environment with a small class size and free tutorial services. They enroll approximately 130 students of incoming freshmen who are selected through a lottery process. In 2020, they had the #55 rated School in the entire country. This is a 9-12th grade Liberal Arts high school where ALL students will experience an accelerated college preparatory program with two years of Latin and the full inclusion of music theory and performance.
