Covenant HealthCare | Saginaw, Michigan | Orthopedic Hand Surgery

Covenant HealthCare is recruiting a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join its employed medical group in Saginaw, Michigan. This is a newly created position driven by rising volumes and the need to expand patient access across the Great Lakes Bay Region. Covenant currently holds 62% market share for orthopedics in the region and is ranked #1 for orthopedic care in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Hand trauma cases are currently transferred out of the system. You will build the first dedicated hand surgery practice within Covenant Orthopedics and serve as the primary hand surgeon for a six-county catchment area.

Setting: Hospital-employed medical group Position Type: New position, full-time Subspecialty Mix at Ramp-Up: 50 to 60% hand, 40 to 50% general Subspecialty Mix Once Established: Approximately 75% hand and 25% general. Case Type: Elective and trauma Primary Location: Covenant Hospital Campus, Saginaw, MI Satellite Coverage: Occasional clinics in the Thumb region

Practice Setting

• Primary clinic at 900 Cooper, Suite 3100, Saginaw, MI 48602 with 20 rooms, 3 to 6 per provider
• Secondary clinic at 5483 Gratiot, Saginaw, MI 48638
• New 25,700 sq ft orthopedic building opens 2027 with 44 exam rooms, 4 procedural rooms, 4 X-ray rooms, 2 casting rooms, Ortho Urgent Care, and Mary Free Bed O&P
• Occasional satellite responsibilities in the Thumb region
• Strong referral channel with Covenant Occupational Health, which directs most of its orthopedic referrals into the group

Service Area and Community Need

• Primary service area covers 6 counties from Saginaw
• System-wide reach spans 20 counties across northeast and central Michigan
• No existing hand surgeon inside Covenant Orthopedics; hand traumas are currently transferred out
• Plastic surgery performs microvascular cases today, with those procedures available to the incoming hand surgeon
• Largest and most comprehensive orthopedic team in the Saginaw area

Work Schedule

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Completed fellowship in Hand Surgery
• Eligible for Michigan medical licensure
• DEA registration eligible

Reporting Structure

You will practice within Covenant Orthopedics as part of the employed Covenant Medical Group, working alongside orthopedic surgeons, APPs, medical assistants, clinic RNs, and dedicated scribes.
