Clinical Component

Bread-and-butter general urology position, but subspecialities can be supported. Especially exciting to the group would be urologic oncology or female urology.

Locations: Main office on Bay Road and Dr. Mills has a clinic in Midland two days a week. Brand new office, designed with urology in mind; the current providers had input in its design, maximizing urology efficiencies.

Facilities:

  • 2 procedure rooms
  • Approximately 20 exam rooms

Schedule:

  • 2–3 days in the clinic
  • 2–3 days per week in the OR (8–5 Monday through Friday)

Volume:

  • Clinic volume: varies by provider (range: 18–45 patients/day; average: 20–25)
  • Procedure volume: 12–15 per room, depending on provider's style

Procedures Offered:

  • Cystoscopies
  • Vasectomies
  • Prostate biopsies
  • Bladder instillations (e.g., BCG)
  • Botox injections
  • Potential for expanding procedure offerings based on physician interest

Current Urologist Surgical Capabilities: Raj handles robotic surgeries, while Mills focuses on implants like artificial sphincters.

Major teaching hospital to a central Michigan university's seven residency programs and medical students. Teaching is optional and would be with general surgery residents.

Hospital is equipped with two da Vinci Xi HD robots, a new hybrid operating suite, and an ARTIS pheno robotic C-arm angiography system for minimally invasive procedures.

Urology is primarily based out of one hospital housing both the OR and patients. The ERC is at the other connected hospital.

Call schedule: No more than 10 days per month.

Visa support: Can support an H1b Visa.

Covenant HealthCare is the only urology group in the area, covering the Tri-Cities, Thumb, and Gladwin regions.

No major competition: Other local groups are not accepting new patients or are limited in scope.

  • Jensen's group and MyMish (Dr. Witsky, focused on cancer) are active but capacity-limited

Patient Demographics

  • High volume of cancer patients (prostate and bladder)
  • Mix of complex cases, including recurrent UTIs, prostate cancers, and stone disease
  • Referral volume: Approximately 200 referrals daily
  • Referrals extend to Gladwin and Thumb regions

Patient Types and Referrals: Cases include prostate & bladder cancer, stones, and recurrent UTIs. Referrals come from the VA, MyMichigan Health (MyMish), CMG, and Tri-City areas, including Thumb and Gladwin.
