Schedule
At DDSI, physicians enjoy an unrivaled level of autonomy in shaping their schedules and only 1:10 call. This flexibility empowers providers to create work plans that best align with their personal preferences and commitments, fostering a work-life balance that is rare in many medical fields.

Physicians can focus on procedures, hold consults, or adopt a hybrid of both, according to their individual choices. This flexibility extends to the number of consults carried out, allowing each provider to determine their ideal patient volume. Some physicians opt to conduct 30 consults, some prefer 15-minute sessions, and others delegate the majority of their clinic visits to their Nurse Practitioners, enabling them to concentrate fully on procedures.

Telehealth is also incorporated into the practice, providing an effective, alternative means of patient engagement that fits seamlessly into providers' schedules. This versatile approach to patient care allows for broader accessibility and convenience for both patients and providers.

DDSI believes in a collective responsibility towards patient care while valuing personal time. As such, the workday is planned to wrap up by 5:30 PM, ensuring that everyone can be home with their families.

In sum, DDSI's scheduling structure is crafted to promote a healthy work-life balance, accommodate individual preferences, and uphold a high standard of patient care. The institute's flexible and physician-centered approach to scheduling is one of its key strengths, reflecting its commitment to the well-being of its team.

Call
When it comes to on-call duties, DDSI adopts a structured system to prevent undue burden and providers are only responsible for covering one hospital. For daytime day, there is a GI-Hospitalist service covers three weeks per month - 8 AM - 5 PM. One week a month, the DDSI team will take daytime call and that schedule is 1:10, so every provider will have about 1 week of daytime call per year. When on daytime call, there is an average of 4-8 consults per day, maintaining a manageable and balanced workload.

Night and weekend call is also going to be 1:10, with everyone taking an equal portion. On average it will be 1 night every 2.5 weeks and 5 weekends per year.
