You’d be joining a group of 22 board-certified Cardiologists, and 6 Cardiology APP’s. You will also have plenty of support staff to help with scheduling and all Cardiology services they provide, including advanced and structural imaging, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and EP support. I got to meet with several of the Cardiologists, including Dr. Philip Patel, and they are collegial and collaborative. I got a genuine sense from them that they have each other’s backs and work efficiently together stating, “mentorship and collaboration is the culture.”
Growing up in the Bay Area and raised by a father who is a cardiologist, Dr. Patel was immersed in medicine early in life. “It was almost preordained that I would be a physician, my interest in medicine never waned,” states Dr. Patel. While in medical school he vowed to keep an open mind about pursuing other specialties, but cardiology remained his preference.
“The interest of the patient is the only interest that matters,” states Dr. Philip Patel. “This principle tenant of patient care was taught to me during my training at the Mayo Clinic and continues to be the major principle of my practice today.”
Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Genetics, followed by a master’s degree in Medical Sciences from the Boston University Graduate School. After receiving his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Patel relocated to the Midwest to complete his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following completion of seven and a half years of post-graduate training, Dr. Patel relocated to the Coachella Valley and joined Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center. He remains Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Adult General Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. In fact, Dr. Patel is the only Cardiologist in the Coachella Valley who is both Board Certified and Level III-trained in Echocardiography Level III (includes an additional dedicated year of training).
Since joining Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center, Dr. Patel has held numerous leadership roles, among which are Chairman of Eisenhower’s Quality Assurance Committee for Internal Medicine (2007 to 2013), and Section Chief for the Division of Cardiology at Eisenhower Medical Center (two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2013). Currently, he is the President of Desert Cardiology at Eisenhower Medical Center (EDCC) as well as Medical Director of both EDCC Echocardiography/Vascular Laboratories, and Medical Director of the EDCC Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory.
Dr. Patel continues to serves as the Medical Director of Eisenhower Medical Center Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Services.
35 years of experience, leading cardiovascular programs, both hospital and ambulatory divisions.
