Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Joining Louisiana's Premier Cancer Care Team

As you walk through the doors of the dedicated cancer center in Monroe, you'll immediately sense the purposeful design and comprehensive approach that defines this Hematology/Oncology opportunity. This position offers you the chance to practice full-spectrum cancer care within the largest health system in Louisiana, where you'll serve as a vital healthcare resource for patients across a broad geographic region. Unlike high-pressure academic settings where administrative demands overshadow patient care, or volume-driven practices where productivity metrics compromise quality time with patients, this role provides the ideal balance of meaningful clinical work with sustainable practice conditions.

Your practice will serve patients throughout northern Louisiana and beyond, with many traveling up to 100 miles to receive specialized cancer care that simply isn't available closer to home. The community generates approximately 30 or more new referrals weekly, ensuring you'll have the opportunity to build a robust practice while establishing lasting relationships with both patients and referring physicians. This consistent referral volume means you can focus on what you do best – providing exceptional cancer care – without the uncertainty and marketing pressures that plague many oncology practices.

  • Well-established cancer center with on-site infusion services, imaging capabilities, and comprehensive patient support resources all under one roof
  • Full-spectrum practice opportunity treating both oncology (approximately 75% of cases) and hematology patients across all common cancer types
  • Sustainable patient volume with realistic expectations of 24–30 patients daily for new physicians, building toward experienced physician levels of up to 40 patients when supported by APPs
  • Monday through Thursday 8am–5pm clinical schedule with Friday mornings (8am–12pm) and Friday afternoons reserved for APP-led educational clinics
  • Board certification in Hematology and Medical Oncology required with opportunity for immediate integration into established workflows
  • Part of St. Francis Medical Center within the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, providing institutional stability and resources while maintaining community-focused care
  • 1:4 call rotation shared among the physician team, ensuring manageable after-hours responsibilities
  • Epic EMR system facilitating seamless documentation and communication across the health system

This is a replacement position created by the growing demand for cancer care services in the region. You'll join a stable practice environment where three experienced Hematology/Oncology physicians and three Advanced Practice Providers have built a reputation for excellence in cancer care. The health system's commitment to this specialty is evident in their continued investment in facilities, technology, and personnel to meet the expanding needs of the community.

Your new role places you at the center of a cancer care network that extends far beyond Monroe, serving as a regional referral destination where patients and families find hope, expertise, and compassionate care close to home rather than traveling hours to distant metropolitan cancer centers.

This position represents more than just another oncology opportunity – it's a chance to build a meaningful practice where your expertise directly impacts patients' lives while enjoying the professional satisfaction that comes from practicing medicine the way it was meant to be practiced, with adequate time, resources, and support to deliver exceptional care.
