Navigating the Clinical Component
- Excellent Quality of Life with a schedule, Monday through Thursday (8 am –4:30 pm), with a half-day on Fridays (8 am-12 pm).
- Diverse caseload, including autoimmune arthritis, vasculitis, osteoporosis
- A supportive environment with a private office and a dedicated staff: 3 FTE MDs, one part time MD, MA,RN, and LPN.
- Infusions are conducted in the clinic setting, providing comprehensive care to patients with access to on-site pharmacy support.
- Providers currently see 18 patients a day.
- Optional Internal Medicine resident supervision if interested.
- Call is 1:4 with the ability to utilize telemedicine services. One weekend a month.
- Call is rounding in the hospital.
- The clinic is a Joint Commission Clinic, following their guidelines.
- May include diagnostic tests, including:
Biopsy to test tissue for signs of autoimmune disease.
Blood tests to check liver or kidney function.
Bone density test (DEXA scan).
CT scan, MRI or ultrasound to view organs and structures.
Chest X-ray to assess lung issues.
Heart tests, such as an electrocardiogram.
Electromyogram, which measures nerve and muscle functioning.
Endoscopy to evaluate gastrointestinal symptoms. - Develop a personalized care plan that may include:
Corticosteroids.
Immunosuppressive medications.
Occupational therapy.
Joint injections.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Physical therapy.
Referrals to an orthopedic surgeon to assess, repair or replace diseased joints.
