Howard Brown is currently seeking Sexual Health Walk-In staff for their Sheridan clinic. They are converting it from a Primary Care clinic to a Walk-In clinic since they have a lot of walk-in traffic naturally in the area. This 100% outpatient role. 

Clinical Time

  • 32 Hours Patient Contact / 8 Hours Admin
  • Typically, Monday-Friday schedule, but able to discuss with CMO.
  • Average 15-20 patients/day (fluctuates)
  • Dedicated procedure room
  • 2 Providers on per day for cross coverage
  • You’ll have patient care coordinators to assist with any other needs your patients have after their visits (see services below).
  • EMR: Epic
  • The Sexual Health team will have their own pods, and the clinic will be shared with Urgent Care, in their own pods. You’ll have an MA and RN.
  • You won’t hold a patient panel.

What can you expect

The Sexual Health Medical Provider (In Power & Sexual Health Walk-In Provider) provides clinical supervision and support to Howard Brown Health’s clinical support to the sexual health walk-in clinic.

In the capacity of the Sexual Health Walk-In Clinic, the Provider will be required to see patients for regular clinic visits, and provide STI evaluation, treatment, prescription of emergency contraception or PEP/PrEP, pelvic exams, and other related care for the treatment of sexual health needs. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below. 

The In Power & Sexual Health Walk-In Provider is a licensed clinical professional and can be from the following training backgrounds: nurse practitioner or physician assistant.  

How you will make an impact as a clinical administrative leader

  1. Facilitates entry of the patient into the health care system, by assessing the sexual health care needs, including eliciting comprehensive sexual health histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and/or performing pertinent diagnostic tests, analyzing collected data to determine client health status and formulating a problem list (diagnosis.)
  2. Provides coordinated, continuous and culturally competent health care to clients that span the health continuum through mutual goal setting and planning delivery of care
  3. Prescribes a variety of treatment modalities to meet health and illness needs
  4. Collaborates with community health nurses and other medical providers to assure that health teaching and counseling is provided
  5. Meets average monthly provider productivity standards including but not limited to number of visits
  6. Will follow role assignments that are in alignment with the Patient Centered Medical Home Standards, and participate in all Patient Centered Medical Home efforts
  7. Manages and evaluates the plan of care, process and outcome and then modifies the plan as needed.
  8. Adheres to collaborative practice principles of respect and joint decision making when: 
    • Consulting with health team members about managing the client treatment plan.
    • Following clinical practice standards (protocols) related to each health care providers role and responsibilities. 
  9. Assures continuity by obtaining hospital privileges at designated hospitals as directed by Chief Clinical Officer.
  10. Collaborates with other multidisciplinary professionals and community agencies to provide high quality care
  11. Coordinates services in conjunction with other team members to meet patient’s primary health care needs and to ensure the continuity of care.
  12. Precept students and participate in HBHC sponsored community activities as needed.
  13. Maintain Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician.
  14. Assumes the responsibility for maintaining competence in clinical practice by: 
    • Engaging in mentor/mentee relationships with experienced mid-level providers and physicians to gain clinical expertise.
    • Developing and maintaining a patient panel as clinical competence is achieved to enhance continuity of care and meet Organization productivity standards.
    • Participating in appropriate educational activities in order to maintain Board certification and continue professional growth. 
  15. Practices within the legal and ethical guidelines established by the Medical Practice Act and the Specialty Standards of Practice.
  16. Documents comprehensive, accurate and continual data on clients’ records and program reports according to Organization standards.
  17. Adheres to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies, American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians, American academy of nurse practitioners, American academy of physician assistants, private funding sources, Organization plans/policies and Unit guidelines. Participates in periodic evaluative reviews and/or in-house and external staff training to ensure that he/she understands and continues to adhere to such standards.
  18. Performs other duties as necessary. 

Administrative Duties 

  1. Attend clinical supervision with the Chief Clinical Officer 2 times per month
  2. Attend 1 In Power huddle per week; Attend 1 In Power Managers meeting monthly
  3. Supervises medical providers and In Power nurses
  4. Provides guidance and supervision for RNs supporting In Power medical forensic exams and other programming through biweekly supervisions

Get Your Results With Healthvana

Results will return within seven business days after your visit and we will only call you if results are positive. However, we understand the importance of knowing your results, even if they’re negative. So now you can easily check your results with Healthvana!

Healthvana delivers results directly to your phone via their iPhone app or any device with an internet connection, and provides test results, next steps, and testing e-reminders.

We will provide you the option to sign-up for Healthvana during your visit and will assist you in creating your account. Within seven business days, you will be notified when your results are ready! If you need a paper copy of your results or would like your results mailed/faxed, a completed Release of Information form and picture identification will be required during your visit. 

Other Services Available

PEP or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis is a medication regimen that you can take if you believe you have just been exposed to HIV.  If you take PEP as directed within 3 days after exposure, it can prevent HIV from infecting your body. If you had unprotected sex with or been exposed to the blood from someone you think may be HIV positive, please visit the Walk-In Clinic and ask to speak to a Health Educator, who will assist you with your visit.

PrEP or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis is a medication that can reduce your risk of getting HIV. If you take PrEP as directed, it can reduce the chance that HIV will be able to infect your body. A once-daily pill is available for patients seeking PrEP.
