Clinical Component

Navigating the Clinical Component

The general surgery program at Ivinson covers a broad scope of elective and emergent cases. As the only acute care hospital serving the Laramie region, Ivinson handles surgical volume that would otherwise require patients to travel to larger urban centers. The incoming surgeon will manage cases from initial consultation through post-operative care with full inpatient and outpatient surgical responsibilities.

The surgical clinic operates Monday through Friday and is located within the Ivinson Medical Group facility at 3116 Willett Drive. Inpatient surgical coverage is provided at Ivinson Memorial Hospital, 255 N. 30th Street.

Procedural Mix

The program's case mix reflects the full breadth of general surgery. Current procedures performed by the surgical team include:

  • Hernia repair (laparoscopic and open)
  • Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery
  • Colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
  • Colon, breast, and skin cancer surgery
  • Thyroid and parathyroid surgery
  • Gastrointestinal surgery
  • Vasectomies
  • Robotic-assisted surgery
