The practice is outpatient-focused and treats a broad spectrum of hematologic and oncologic conditions. Leadership prefers a physician comfortable practicing both Medical Oncology and Hematology. Exceptional Medical Oncology-only candidates may be considered individually, though both disciplines are preferred.

Leadership views 20 to 25 patients per day as an efficient, patient-centered workload.
The outpatient clinic sits on the main hospital campus, with the infusion areas on the same floor, adjacent to the clinic. The current structure includes three areas.
Leadership plans to consolidate the infusion operation into a single integrated unit. Priorities include improved patient flow, better chair utilization, standardized scheduling, and a cleaner chemotherapy workflow. The incoming physician will have the opportunity to contribute clinical perspective and best practices as these changes move forward.

The program may recommend appropriate clinical trials through regional research alliances and affiliations, including M.D. Anderson, Houston Methodist, Baylor University Medical Center, and LSU Health Shreveport.
Students are permitted to shadow physicians. Formal teaching responsibilities are minimal.
