Navigating the Clinical Component

The current need is due to Ochsner’s substantial need for Urologic services, both in clinic and procedurally focused. There is currently over a 2 month wait time for new patients and the current providers in the area do not see patients on Fridays. They are doing virtual visits in addition to their panels to help with the community need and adjust when appropriate.

This will be a traditional, full-scope Urology position that will be employed through Ochsner Rush Health. The incoming physician can expect to have the Meridian location be his or her primary center to work and see patients.

This Urologist can expect to partner directly with Dr. Stanley Wade who completed his medical school in 1969, and does all general Urology, including kidney stones, incontinence, prostate cancer, BPH and erectile dysfunction. Once the incoming physician gets familiar with their workspace and work flow, Dr. Wade plans to retire early into 2024.

Your office and primary responsibilities will be at a private office space in Ochsner Rush Meridian Hospital. The ideal schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with 36 hours of patient contact per week. You will have the freedom and autonomy associated with your practice, but have the full support of the hospital, including research opportunities. The incoming candidate must be comfortable in all aspects of general Urology. This Urologist will be expected to do all general and procedural Urology, with two DaVinci SI robots and one XI robot available to schedule time on. Procedures include Robotic Assisted Surgery, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, Laser therapies, HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

Ochsner’s primary care physicians and specialists have no doubt that you will be busy from day one.

Payor Mix: a balance of private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.

Call: The call schedule is 1:2, and Ochsner has an internal Urologist from another site helping out with call. It is taken every other weekend at a time.

Otherwise they typically are able to see a full schedule of patients Monday-Friday. They shared that their ER team is very self-sufficient and only call if necessary. Call overall isn’t bad and varies a bit. Dr. Wade has not taken much call in his recent years of practicing, so an incoming Urologist can expect to be busy, sharing in the Meridian scope of call.

The incoming Urologist will also be working closely with the Nurse Practitioner Charles Lafleur, an experienced and established NP who collaborates with Dr. Wade consistently. He is very personable and assists with intake and scheduling as well as follow-up appointments.
