Hialeah Hospital is a community hospital that sees 32K ED visits per year. Once they were purchased by Stewart the acuity of patients went up. There is a lot of critical care that comes through the door, just not from the local community but also from some of our sister sites. The hospital gets everything through the door including STEMI, Stroke & Pulmonary Embolism. On top of that there's just a lot of really sick patients coming through the door.
Occasionally, ED providers have to go do intubations because some of the Nurse Practitioner are not properly trained. That is supposed to be solved soon and will be a big relief.
