Meet Our Team

The Division Chief leads an established academic team with faculty across advanced endoscopy, motility, general gastroenterology, and inpatient care, supported by APPs and a dedicated administrative group. The incoming Chief serves as the primary physician leader for all faculty and APPs.

Faculty Composition

Motility Leadership

The Motility Program is led by Satish Rao, MD, internationally recognized in neurogastroenterology and motility and an NIH-funded physician scientist. The program supports a complex referral practice and is one of the division's most recognizable academic assets.

Advanced Practice Providers

• Four APPs work directly with attending physicians
• APPs support the division's subspecialties across clinic and procedural care

Administrative Support

• Three administrative assistants
• One shared Division Manager

Research Personnel

• One grant coordinator supporting the Department of Medicine
• One research associate
• One research assistant
• Administrative support for research operations, regulatory activities, and grant administration

Team Environment

Leadership described the division as a collaborative faculty group with established subspecialty depth. The incoming Chief will be central to faculty recruitment, mentorship, and professional development as the division continues to expand, including growth tied to the new Wellstar Columbia County Hospital.
