Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Central Role in a Growing Cancer Program

You step into a radiation oncology service that anchors cancer care for the Big Horn Basin and parts of southern Montana. Cody Regional Health needs a full time radiation oncologist who can lead a modern program, strengthen outreach, and help launch new capabilities as the hospital completes a major LINAC upgrade and prepares for SRS and SBRT. This position replaces long term locum coverage and brings stability, continuity, and community presence back to the service.

You practice in a dedicated cancer center with medical oncology on site. Patients come from a wide rural catchment where specialized care is limited. Many have long relationships with the program, and they want a physician who plans to stay. You become part of a cohesive team that includes a full time physicist, committed therapists, active dosimetry support, and a medical oncologist who values daily collaboration.

Why the role exists

The previous radiation oncologist did not engage in outreach and the community lost confidence. Referrals drifted north to Billings. The need to restore a stable presence, expand services, and meet rising demand drives this recruitment. With a new TrueBeam arriving and Apex accreditation underway, you enter at the exact time the program is ready to grow.
