At Eisenhower Medical Center, you’ll step into a thriving general surgery program that blends high surgical volume with administrative vision, peer collaboration, and the support of one of the most resource-rich environments in the western U.S. As a general surgeon here, you will join a robust and collegial team of 10 general surgeons serving a dynamic and growing population in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The position offers a flexible and sustainable schedule, 24/7 access to the newest generation of surgical robotics, and a shared commitment to clinical excellence without burnout.
You’ll practice across both inpatient and outpatient settings, with ample opportunity to grow your own niche, thanks to an open and collaborative culture. The organization is currently preparing to advance from a Level IV to a Level II trauma designation over the next five years, allowing general surgeons to tailor their involvement in trauma, acute care, and elective cases. Trauma is not a requirement for this role. They have already hired one trauma surgeon and plan to hire more. Importantly, call responsibilities are structured and manageable (1:12), and weekend blocks are available to add on cases if desired when on call.
This is not a backfill due to turnover, but a proactive recruitment driven by strong volume growth and upcoming retirements among senior surgeons. With three EMA surgeons and one community-based general surgeon expected to retire within five years, the department is expanding to ensure continuity of care and to balance workloads across the team. Surgeons who are MIS-trained (robotics is a plus) and hold a California license (or can obtain one) are highly encouraged to apply.
This is your chance to build a rewarding general surgery practice in one of Southern California’s most sought-after communities, supported by a team that values innovation, collaboration, and long-term stability.
