This is an outpatient general surgery practice with no trauma burden and no emergency call. Emergency cases do not come to the hospital because it is a critical access facility. You focus on scheduled general surgery and high demand endoscopy. You set your volume targets. The hospital supports whatever surgical pace you choose.
Bread and butter general surgery forms the backbone of the practice. Common referrals include gallbladder disease, hernias, appendicitis, bowel obstruction evaluations, and colon issues. The internal medicine group generates 12 to 14 surgical referrals per week. Endoscopy volume will ramp up immediately due to the six month wait for scopes in Macon.
The OR is currently closed but ready for reopening once sterile processing upgrades finish. There are two rooms. One is fully equipped as an OR. The second can be converted based on your case load. The hospital will purchase additional equipment based on need. You have full access to block time.
There is no robotics. CRNAs provide anesthesia during daytime hours. There is no night or weekend anesthesia coverage.
Your clinic operates from the medical office building next to the hospital. You will have five to six exam rooms, a private office, and a procedure room. Clinic and OR scheduling stay flexible. You choose how many clinic days and OR days you want.
Leadership is designing a replacement facility around the OR. You will help shape the layout, equipment choices, and long term surgical planning. This gives you influence over the future of surgery at Monroe County Hospital.
Your clinical role focuses on consistent surgical workflow, strong endoscopy demand, and the opportunity to build a modern outpatient surgical program from the ground up.
