You will join the Welch Cancer Center at Sheridan Memorial Hospital as the newest member of a thriving hematology and oncology practice that serves patients across northern Wyoming and southern Montana. This is not a replacement position but rather a strategic expansion driven by the center's significant growth over the past several years. When Dr. Christian Kim arrived in 2024, he joined a program already experiencing increased patient volumes and community demand. Now, just over a year later, the success of the practice and the continued growth of the regional population have created the need for a third hematology/oncology specialist.
Your practice will focus on general hematology and oncology, treating solid tumors, benign hematologic conditions, and select malignant hematology cases. You will work alongside Dr. Kim and Dr. Megan Ratterman in a collaborative environment supported by oncology-trained nurses, an OCN-certified nurse navigator, specialized pharmacy staff, and radiation oncology colleagues. The Welch Cancer Center serves as the primary cancer treatment facility for Sheridan County and the surrounding region, filling a vital healthcare gap in an area where the nearest comprehensive cancer centers are 1.75 to 4.5 hours away in Billings, Casper, or Cheyenne.
Your schedule will follow a structured four-day workweek from 8:30am to 4:00pm, allowing you to see 12 to 14 patients daily in the outpatient clinic with protected time for new consultations and thoughtful follow-up care. You will take call on a 1:3 rotation with your two physician colleagues. Unlike many oncology practices where physicians manage complex inpatient services, hospitalists at Sheridan Memorial admit and manage most inpatient cases, calling on you only for occasional consultations. This structure allows you to focus your clinical energy on outpatient cancer care while maintaining reasonable work-life boundaries.
You will practice in a comprehensive cancer center equipped with a 9-chair infusion center, on-site radiation oncology with a Varian linear accelerator upgraded in 2024, intensity-modulated radiation therapy capabilities, and in-house oncology pharmacy services. While you will refer acute leukemia cases to tertiary centers in Denver or Billings, you will manage the full spectrum of other hematology and oncology conditions, including solid tumors and both benign and malignant hematologic disorders.
This position offers the professional satisfaction of building a cancer program in a community that genuinely needs your expertise, the clinical variety of general hematology/oncology practice, and the lifestyle advantages of a structured schedule in one of Wyoming's most beautiful mountain communities.
