The position is a non-invasive cardiology role joining one experienced provider. There are no Interventional Cardiologists or EPs in the hospital so our General Cardiologists perform basic devices and procedures. In this role, you will have the capability to perform Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), manage cardiac devices, conduct Electrocardiograms (EKGs) and Holter monitors, as well as administer exercise and cardiac stress tests. Additionally, you will be responsible for reading echocardiograms and managing device data. The facility includes a Cardiac Rehab center staffed with a dedicated Physical Therapist and provides inpatient services with an average daily census of 2-4 patients. Looking ahead, there are plans to expand services to include PET CT within the next two years, offering opportunities to interpret pacemakers, ICDs, and electrophysiology (EP) studies.

This is a 120 Bed Hospital – 48 Acute/Primary Care, 16 inpatient Rehab, 16 Memory Care, 40 Skilled Nursing, 6 ICU. Admits roughly 1,900 patients, delivers over 400 babies, performs 2,750 surgeries, and handles more than 8,500 emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct noninvasive cardiac procedures and tests
• Manage and interpret device data
• Perform and read EKGs, Holter monitors, and stress tests
• Participate in device management and follow-ups
• Collaborate with the Cardiac Rehab team for comprehensive patient care
Patient Load:
• Current waitlist: 60 patients
• Wait times: 2 months for new patient consults, 1 month for follow-up visits
• Inpatient average daily census: 2-4 patients

• Dr. Catino: General Cardiologist, specialized in TEE and Cardioversion procedures
• Dr. Bunch: Visiting Electrophysiologist from the University of Utah (one day a month)
• Stephanie Ferris, FNP: Family Nurse Practitioner supporting the team
• Dr. Jason Su: Pediatric Cardiologist (once every three months)

Weekly Schedule
Your typical workweek will be structured as follows:
Outpatient Clinic Days (2 Days):
• Each day consists of 10 patient slots
• Focus on new patient consultations and routine follow-ups
Inpatient Services Days (2 Days):
• Round on 2-4 patients
• Conduct urgent stress tests and read Echocardiograms
• Manage 3-7 patients in the outpatient clinic
• Field Emergency Room (ER) calls and manage remote device monitoring for St. Johns patients
Additional Responsibilities:
• While Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE) are primarily performed by Dr. Catino, incoming providers may perform these procedures if desired
• Cardioversions are the only procedures requiring direct involvement from incoming providers.
Call Responsibilities
Call duties are structured to ensure balanced workload and adequate coverage:
Call Schedule:
• 1:2 call rotation
• 2 days per week (Monday to Thursday)
• Every other Friday (no outpatient clinic)
• Saturday and Sunday
Support:
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) does not assist with call duties
