Your clinical practice in the Advanced Endoscopy Center (AEC) is defined by complexity, precision, and collaboration. Each day, you’ll provide anesthesia care for up to 35 advanced GI and pulmonary procedures, including ERCPs, endoscopic resections, stent placements, and complex bronchoscopies. Patients often arrive with significant comorbidities, requiring you to apply the full breadth of your skills in both monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and general anesthesia.
Technology supports your practice rather than complicates it. With Epic as your EMR and Qgenda for scheduling, documentation and coordination are streamlined. Equipment such as Glidescopes, McGrath video scopes, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, Senzime EMG, and modern infusion pumps give you confidence in tackling challenging cases while minimizing delays.
You won’t shoulder these responsibilities alone. The AEC operates in a team-based model with anesthetists, anesthesia residents, GI and pulmonary physicians, and fellows all present. This provides both professional support and academic engagement. You’ll supervise trainees, guide anesthetists, and model best practices for high-acuity procedural anesthesia, all while collaborating seamlessly with endoscopists and pulmonologists.
The result is a clinical environment where you are both a physician leader and a hands-on expert, ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and cutting-edge care.
