Position Overview

Understanding the Role

The role of Interventional Cardiologist at Adventist Health Sonora offers a unique opportunity to lead and expand the hospital’s growing interventional cardiology program. This position is situated in a hospital-based setting, integrated with a network of outpatient clinics that streamline patient care and referrals. The hospital is looking for a candidate eager to contribute to the development of a robust program that addresses the needs of a growing patient population.

Qualified candidates must possess board certification in Interventional Cardiology. While proficiency in coronary and peripheral interventions is essential, skills in structural interventions are not required, though prior training is considered a bonus for future potential needs. The hospital values individuals with a collaborative spirit and a focus on patient-centered care.

This is a newly created position, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to advancing its cardiology services. The interventional cardiologist will handle a mix of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, working closely with general cardiologists to manage patient referrals. The role includes opportunities to develop subspecialty expertise, particularly in coronary and peripheral interventions.

The work schedule is designed to balance clinic duties with procedural responsibilities. Mondays are dedicated to elective cases, while Tuesdays through Fridays involve outpatient clinic visits, with appointments scheduled every 30 minutes. The role is supported by experienced nurse practitioners who assist with clinic coverage and patient rounds during procedures. On-call duties are shared with long-term locum cardiologists, with the goal of establishing a fully permanent team. Additionally, Adventist Health Sonora is actively pursuing designation as a STEMI Receiving Center, further enhancing its cardiology capabilities.
