Your general responsibilities consist of performing in OR anesthetics for a wide variety of surgical specialties. Assisting and collaborating with CRNAs. Operating Room Board Management and Regional Anesthetics.
Your schedule will consist of the following breakdown:
Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
One anesthesiologist is on call daily. When serving on call it is for a 24-hour period and includes in-house and home call depending on department needs and OR cases. Roughly 50% of the time you will be called into the hospital when serving on call.
Weekday On-Call:
Call Hours are 7 AM to 7 AM
The physician remains In-House until all scheduled cases are completed.
(Hours vary based on volumes 12 – 16-hour shift)
Serve as the Liaison between the Anesthesia Department and Charge Nurse.
On Call Physician runs to OR board, provides breaks to the Anesthesia team and performs Pre-Ops.
Post Call Day Off
Weekend On-Call – same structure as Weekday Call – Schedule runs from 7 AM Saturday until 7 AM Monday, with post call day off as well.
Support: In addition to the on-call Anesthesiologist, there are always 2 CRNAs in House at Night Monday through Sunday and during the day there are 5 CRNAs in-house. On-call physician comes in for trauma, pediatric, and critically ill patients.
Call Frequency:
The call is split evenly among all Anesthesiologists. Roughly 2 weekends and 10 weekdays every 20 weeks. Only 50% of the time does the on-call Physician get called into the hospital.
