We have 11 exam rooms and 18 infusion chairs. Providers enjoy their own private office separate from the exam rooms. Our EMR is currently Cerner with some plans in place to potentially move to Epic.
Tumor Board is conducted weekly on Wednesday and includes surgeons, urology, pathology, nuclear medicine, radiology, radiation oncologist, and cardiothoracic surgeon as needed. This is our weekly working conference where all cases are reviewed, and treatment plans are developed.
Our patient population deals with a large volume of GI – stomach, biliary and colorectal cancers. A Unique spectrum of lymphomas – more T cells than B cells; far fewer cases of CLL and multiple myeloma. Recent increases have been noticed in hematological malignancies – leukemia and hybrid lymphomas, including acute leukemia and post-transplant patients. Our physicians can now treat these patients in Anchorage rather than referring them down to Seattle. These patients are seen and treated locally and get to stay in a hotel on campus or the Quyana House when needed.
Teaching opportunities are available for our providers with rotating WWAMI students and MEDEX PA-Students.
Per our SCMD, Dr. Anu – the outdoor activities in Anchorage are bar none. There are multiple trails all throughout the city including a multiuse trail that is lit during the winter months and even has a trailhead on ANMC campus. Folks ride their “Fat” bikes to and from work all year round.
Feedback from the team has given us a sense of the ideal fit for a new provider. Our team is seeking a provider that values an active lifestyle focused on the outdoors. Someone who enjoys skiing, skating, snow sports and can manage long dark winters from October to March. There are very few oncologists per capita in Alaska which can make for lucrative private practice options and if that is more your style fit, then this is not the position for you, but if you are mission focused, value your free time and want ample time off with compensation that is well above the volume productions asked of you, then this is the perfect opportunity.
