We're proud to be a community hospital. But we're not necessarily your typical community hospital, we take care of about 95% of the healthcare needs in our community. However, we don't do transplant surgeries, open heart surgery, or intracranial surgery.
This position is going to be 30% Hematology, and 70% Oncology. There are no inpatient services, the provider may walk into the hospital and check to see how the patient’s doing, however, it is not a requirement by the hospital. Occasionally we may receive a patient who will need inpatient chemo, which is considered to be rare, last year there were about 2 to 3 patients in total.
Right now, our medical staff in general is considered to be very strong, many of whom are trained at UVA. We have two surgeons, fellowship-trained in breast, a pathologist, and two oncology radiologists.
