The role of a General Gastroenterologist in this outpatient practice involves providing comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders and diseases. While there is no routine call schedule, providers must be flexible as they may be expected to take calls on a 1:5 rotation. During on-call periods, there is no dedicated triage system, and calls are typically handled by advanced practice providers of the hospitals’ 24/7 service. However, providers may be required to take calls directly if the advanced practice team is unavailable.
The average patient load is 18 patients per day. The clinic has four Endo Suites, and the schedule typically consists of 1-2 office days per week, with the remaining days dedicated to endoscopy procedures. A key responsibility of this role is overseeing a team of 2 Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants in the colon clinic and approximately 3 additional advanced practice providers within the group.
The practice offers flexibility, with the option for providers to work a four-day week while maintaining a Monday – Friday schedule.
