As the newest member of BSA Hospital's elite Cardiothoracic Surgery team, you'll step into a role that offers the perfect blend of clinical excellence and leadership opportunity. This position represents a chance to help shape the future of cardiac care in the Texas Panhandle, joining two established surgeons in a program poised for strategic growth. Unlike many metropolitan practices where surgeons can feel like interchangeable parts in a large machine, at BSA you'll be a valued colleague whose skills and vision directly impact program development.
The hospital administration recognizes the untapped potential in their cardiothoracic service line and is actively investing in its expansion. They've engaged an external consulting group specifically to develop growth strategies for the CTS program, demonstrating their commitment to building a premier cardiac surgery center. As the third surgeon in this collaborative team, your perspective and expertise will help shape these strategic initiatives from day one.
Your practice will serve a vast catchment area encompassing portions of five states, stretching north to Denver, east to Oklahoma City, south 90 minutes to Lubbock, and west to Albuquerque. This extensive service region represents a significant opportunity to build a robust surgical practice while providing life-saving interventions for patients who would otherwise travel hundreds of miles for care.
Your weekly schedule reflects BSA's commitment to physician well-being and sustainable practice. You'll typically work Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm, with shorter Fridays ending at 1pm—a schedule designed to provide both professional fulfillment and personal time. This balanced approach allows you to maintain the technical excellence required of a cardiothoracic surgeon while avoiding the burnout common in high-volume metropolitan centers.
This position requires a physician with both technical expertise and leadership qualities who is ready to help elevate an already solid program to new heights. You'll need to be comfortable with the full spectrum of adult cardiac and thoracic procedures, as the mid-market setting requires general CTS skills rather than sub specialization.
This position offers what many cardiothoracic surgeons seek but rarely find: the chance to make a significant impact while maintaining work-life balance. You'll join a hospital explicitly committed to growing its cardiac program, with resources allocated for that purpose, in a community where your expertise will be valued and your leadership welcomed. Instead of being constrained by the politics and hierarchy of a large academic center or the relentless production demands of a high-volume private practice, you'll help shape a program with tremendous growth potential while enjoying a schedule that acknowledges you're a person as well as a surgeon.
