A rewarding opportunity awaits a Family Medicine Physician in an outpatient clinical setting, promoting a healthy work-life balance with a 4-day workweek. The physician will engage with approximately 15-17 patients per day, spanning all ages from birth through end of life. The patients are scheduled in either 20-minute or 40-minute slots and the MA’s are assigned to each physician to assist in their clinical responsibilities. The incoming provider will build their panel quickly as they will be stepping into a panel that was recently vacated. Dr. Smith’s thoughts are that, “Dr. Rasch and I are at a point where we are happy to, if someone calls in and they don’t have a provider in mind, we will just book them with the new provider.” The clinic uses Epic EMR system with the providers utilizing Dragon for their dictation.
This role extends beyond routine care, as the provider will play a vital role in delivering maternity and obstetrics services to the community. The hospital’s obstetrics services, operating in a 3-provider model, handle between 80 to 90 deliveries per year. You will work in a collaborative environment sharing a low-volume 1:3 OB call rotation with seasoned professionals. Notably, physicians will autonomously manage their own surgical C-sections during on-call periods. The current C-section rate is approximately 30%. Remarkably, your practice stands as the sole OB provider within a 60-mile radius, holding a 100% market share.
As a testament to the physician's holistic approach, call responsibilities encompass both the OB call and a separate pediatric inpatient service call rotation. The pediatric call for the FMOB providers will always be scheduled the same days as their OB call and will not add additional call days to the existing OB call responsibilities. The OB call rotation is shared on a 1:3 basis with colleagues Dr. Smith and Dr. Rasch Monday through Thursday. The hospital provides coverage every fourth weekend to provide the physicians an additional weekend away from call responsibilities. The pediatric inpatient call rotation is shared 1:5 among all the family medicine providers. In Dr. Smith’s words, “I typically do 4-5 pediatric admissions per year.” Both call volumes are described as relatively light compared to similar facilities, enhancing the overall appeal of this dynamic and fulfilling position.
The hospital benefits from a comprehensive support system, with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), Neonatology, and Gynecologists available for consultations. High-risk pregnancies are efficiently referred to MFM partners in Missoula and Bozeman, ensuring specialized care. The collaborative healthcare setting extends to employed Hospitalist and Emergency Medicine teams providing coverage. Additionally, experienced physicians are on hand for C-Section second assists, enhancing the overall quality and scope of care provided.
