The work schedule is flexible, typically consisting of a 4-day workweek with two days in the operating room and two days in the clinic. Clinic days run from 8am to 4pm, with an estimated patient load of 25 per day. OR days often end earlier, providing additional personal time. Fridays are often available for administrative tasks or personal pursuits. Call is manageable at a 1:3 ratio for nights and weekends, taken one week at a time with facial trauma call shared at a 1:6 or 1:7 ratio with plastics and oral maxillofacial surgery. Current provider stated he only has to come back in 20% of the time and hardly ever after hours.
The practice benefits from modern, well-equipped facilities, including an on-site Ambulatory Surgery Center, two dedicated scope rooms with video towers, and two specialized ear rooms featuring Zeiss microscopes. The main hospital OR is available for more complex cases, and there are plans to further enhance the facilities with additional monitors in exam rooms.
Compensation is highly competitive, starting with a base salary and production-based incentives beginning in the first year. The current physician achieves 80% of MGMA benchmarks in a 4-day week. Additional benefits include a $40,000 signing bonus, relocation assistance, 8 weeks of paid time off (6 weeks' vacation + 2 weeks CME, and holidays) comprehensive health insurance, and retirement plans including a 403(b) with 5% employer match and a 457(b) option.
