Big Sandy Schools are committed to the integration of technology into the school system.

The elementary program runs from K-6th grade with approximately 90 students total. The classes are quite small, often with 10 or fewer students per grade taught by one teacher. This allows for lots of personalized attention. Aside from the standard curriculum, elementary students can participate in 4H, Future Farmers of America (FFA), and clubs.

Big Sandy High School serves 7th-12th grades with around 60 students total. They offer core subjects like English, Math, Science and electives such as foreign languages, vocational agriculture classes, shop class, music, and drama. Small class sizes again foster close-knit learning and attention from teachers.

Sports and extracurricular are important for bringing the community together and giving students leadership opportunities. The high school has sports like football, basketball, volleyball in addition to clubs like National Honor Society, student council, theater, and FFA.

After graduation, about 60% of students attend two or four year college programs while others go directly into the workforce or military. But teachers work closely with students to support pursing vocations matching their skills and interests whether trade skills, technical training, certification programs or a university degree.

With its small, intimate learning environment and focus on real-world skills, Big Sandy schools nurture success for students looking to build lives and careers locally in this rural ranching community.
