We have an outstanding Pathology program with a tremendous team including Dr. Leon Mensch who is a wonderful physician and colleague. He spent the majority of time working in the Northeast specifically in Vermont where he was in practice for roughly 20 years before coming to Alaska where he found his perfect place to live and one day retire. Dr. Mensch stated he “did the private path but didn’t like it”, then found his place in Soldotna where he gushed about the wonderful work and life balance he has. He is very active in the community and has a sled dog team for “dog mushing”, scuba diving, and surfing in the area. He cannot imagine living anywhere else.
Dr. Mensch is a strong medical director for the program and enjoys playing an administrative role to the hospital. That being said he shared with me that he would be happy to move aside and let someone else take the reins if desired.
The basic schedule is going to be a 4-day work week.
