Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Fulfilling a Critical Need in a Thriving Cardiovascular Program

As you step into your role as a General Cardiologist at Southern Indiana Heart & Vascular, you'll become an integral part of Columbus Regional Health's vision to establish a comprehensive Cardiac Center of Excellence. You'll join a well-established, cohesive team of cardiologists providing essential cardiovascular care to a wide service area encompassing ten counties in southeastern Indiana. With a catchment area of approximately 400,000 residents, your expertise will directly address the substantial community need for expanded cardiovascular services in this growing region.

Walking through the doors of Southern Indiana Heart & Vascular each morning, you'll experience a practice designed with both physician and patient satisfaction in mind. The clinic is conveniently located just across the creek from Columbus Regional Hospital – a short three-minute walk that connects you seamlessly with inpatient services, diagnostic testing, and the cardiac step-down unit. You'll soon find yourself part of a tight-knit medical community where collegiality and mutual support are the norm rather than the exception.

A Day in Your Practice

Your typical day balances meaningful patient interactions with efficient clinical workflow. With the support of a robust team of experienced nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff, you'll focus on delivering exceptional cardiology care rather than managing paperwork. The practice's EPIC EMR system streamlines documentation, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance despite a full clinical schedule.

Unlike the production-focused environments common in many cardiology practices, your role here emphasizes quality over quantity. You won't find yourself racing through appointments or sacrificing thorough evaluations to meet RVU targets. Instead, you'll have the time to develop the kind of physician-patient relationships that lead to better outcomes and greater professional satisfaction.

This prestigious connection provides access to expanded clinical protocols, educational opportunities, and collaborative relationships with colleagues at one of the world's leading cardiac care institutions.

Unlike many community hospitals, Columbus Regional Health cultivates a culture of physician wellness and professional development. With a remarkable 95% physician retention rate – reaching 98% in 2023 – this is clearly a place where physicians choose to build long-term careers rather than simply fulfill contract obligations.
