Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Vital Role in Women’s Health

As an OBGYN Hospitalist in Lawton, Oklahoma, you will step into a role designed to bring stability and balance to both patients and colleagues. Your primary responsibility will be to provide continuous obstetric and gynecologic care during designated shifts, ensuring that the women of Comanche County and surrounding communities have immediate access to expert care at all hours. This position is not about rushing between office visits and hospital calls; instead, it allows you to focus exclusively on hospital-based medicine, where your presence directly impacts patient safety and provider well-being.

Meeting a Community Need

Comanche County Memorial Hospital serves as the central hub for women’s health across southwest Oklahoma, where access to consistent, round-the-clock OB coverage is essential. By joining this team, you’ll help address a growing need for dedicated hospital-based obstetricians. Your role will directly complement the efforts of your colleague, Dr. Berman, who has shouldered much of the hospitalist coverage. This shared model ensures that expectant mothers always have a board-certified OBGYN available, while also protecting the longevity and satisfaction of the medical staff.

Balanced and Predictable Schedule

Unlike the unpredictable and draining call rotations common in many practices, this opportunity offers a predictable rhythm. You will work two full weeks per month (covering nights) along with two weekends on call. The weekends are structured from Friday evening through Monday morning, providing clear expectations and allowing you to plan meaningful time outside of work. Your schedule will run opposite of Dr. Berman’s, giving both of you balance while maintaining seamless coverage for patients.

Qualifications and Fit

The hospital is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible OBGYN with ideally five or more years of practice ahead. An Oklahoma medical license is preferred, though candidates with the ability to secure one will be considered. Prior experience in a hospitalist or locums setting is viewed as a strong asset, as it demonstrates readiness for the unique pace and responsibilities of this role.
