Candidate Parameters

Fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in gastroenterology. 2024 and 2025 candidates accepted as well as those currently practicing. Open to candidates that can do ERCP or EUS, but this is not required.

Typical Schedule

Full time position – Monday thru Thursday 8am–5pm and Friday 8am–noon
36 Patient Contact Hours – 4 Admin Hours/week
Call: 1:6 Weekdays & Weekends (currently 1:5) – Consult Only Service – No Admissions
Physicians participate in creating the call schedule

Practice Details

50/50 split on clinic lab/endoscopy
The clinic can schedule up to 20+ patients per 8-hour day, depending on physician comfort
~5000 endoscopy cases/year – 500 inpatient / 4500 outpatient
100+ ERCP, expected to double with Dr. Kodsi joining
180+ EUS (currently one physician performs these)
500+ GI referral backlog – 3-4 week wait for new patients
CMC Cancer Center is affiliated with Duke Health Network, enabling local care for cancer cases
General GI practice opportunity; ERCP preferred due to limited provider availability
EUS not required – limited equipment (1 room/machine), but available for those trained
NPs assist with clinic visits, scheduling, and patient follow-up

Referral Sources

Referrals come from both within the CMC PCP network and external providers, all processed through Central Scheduling.

Renovated in 2022
4 procedure rooms and 8 holding rooms (pre and post-op)
Scopes: Olympus 180 and 190 series (HD)
C-Arm available in the hospital
Propofol used in endoscopy suite; conscious sedation used in ICU or other hospital areas
Closed ICU and CCU
