Understanding the Role

This is a permanent, W-2 anesthesiologist role dedicated to a single site, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital in Summerville. DPI Anesthesia is adding this position to meet growth and rising surgical demand at the hospital, with a stated focus on continuity, teamwork, and provider quality of life.

You would practice in a collaborative, medical-direction model. Anesthesiologists work alongside CRNAs who are supported to practice to the full extent of their skill set, including performing blocks.

Your Role

• Provide general and procedural anesthesia for a broad adult surgical population.
• Work within a medical-direction model paired with CRNAs.
• Cover a single hospital campus, with no routine multi-hospital commute.
• Participate in a rotating call structure with a built-in post-call day off.

Practice Setting

• Single-site coverage at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital in Summerville.
• Collaborative team culture emphasizing teamwork, autonomy, and quality of life.
• CRNAs cover obstetrics autonomously; anesthesiologists do not routinely supervise that service.

Schedule Structure

• Rotating six-week schedule targeting roughly 40 to 45 hours per week.
• Typical start times around 8:00 a.m., with the earliest around 7:00 a.m.
• Post-call day off built into the rotation.
• Substantial scheduled time away from work, including a six-day block off every sixth week.
