As the Associate Program Director, you’d be reporting and collaborating with the Program Director, Dr. White, and working alongside 3 other APD’s, 19 Faculty Members, and 60 IM residents (20 per year). We’ve helped recruit Dr. White, Dr. Perumbeti, and Dr. Tsai. In working with this group, I’ve learned that they work collegially and efficiently together, so you would be stepping into a turn-key program that also wants to incorporate to ways to improve the program.
Greetings,
The Internal Medicine training program at Eisenhower Health mission is to train outstanding Primary Care and Hospital Internists.
It is our hope that graduates will have had an exciting and fulfilling education in general internal medicine and want to contribute to the high quality health care available in the Coachella Valley and throughout the United States. To deliver primary care and hospital medicine, general internists must be competent in the evaluation of undifferentiated medical problems, the management of acute and chronic medical illnesses and identification and management of psychosocial problems associated with illness. In addition, comprehensive preventative services that include health promotion and cost effective illness management are hallmarks of the effective internist. Clinical training at EMC focuses on developing competencies with the skills, knowledge and abilities that are used in providing ambulatory and inpatient medical care. Learners use the set of competencies to make inpatient care safe and effective plus have the communication and medical skills to ensure ongoing comprehensive patient care out of the hospital.
Ambulatory training is directed at increasing the residents’ clinical experiences in the longitudinal care of continuity patients. Importantly, it also has a focus on teaching residents subspecialty medicine which increasingly is ambulatory based as well.
It is our hope that graduates will have had an exciting and fulfilling education in general internal medicine and want to contribute to the high quality health care available in the Coachella Valley and throughout the United States.
As physicians, we are more than practitioners of the medical arts. Training in basic and social science is the foundation upon which clinical medicine rests. The importance of science to clinical practice is profound. Without a proper understanding of the scientific principles guiding clinical medicine, our abilities to practice sound and effective internal medicine is limited. Therefore, the curriculum at Eisenhower has tried to strike a balance that stresses attention to the scientific knowledge and investigation that bears on the fundamental mechanisms of disease and therapy with the art of delivering comprehensive, competent and compassionate care to patients.
I hope that you will seriously consider our institution. I believe that it offers an opportunity combined with a pleasant working environment and an outstanding place to live.
I look forward to talking with you personally.
Sincerely,
Wendy Ellisse White, MD
