As a board-certified or board-eligible hematologist/oncologist, you’ll step into a thriving, team-oriented environment deeply embedded in its Southern California community. Practicing alongside 7 full-time oncology colleagues, you’ll help expand a UC San Diego-affiliated program that merges cutting-edge resources with patient-centered care.
This is more than a clinical position—it’s a chance to shape cancer care in a region with high unmet need. With over 3,400 new referrals in 2024 and a current 3–4 week wait for new patients, your presence will immediately enhance access and outcomes for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
Your practice will be primarily general hematology/oncology, with the flexibility to focus on disease sites like GI, GU, lung cancer, or benign hematology. Serving a 700,000-person service area and covering only one hospital, you’ll enjoy both clinical diversity and operational simplicity.
For those interested in medical education, there’s an optional academic component as the team prepares to launch a hematology/oncology fellowship program in 2027. While teaching is not required, physicians may engage in shaping future oncologists in a structured educational environment.
This role offers the perfect mix of clinical impact, professional autonomy, and academic opportunity—all within the vibrant and scenic Coachella Valley.
