Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Building a Growing Program in Paradise

Step into a role where your expertise will make an immediate and lasting impact on both patients and the broader healthcare community. As the second Palliative Care physician to join Eisenhower Health's rapidly expanding program, you'll help shape and develop a service that has already proven its value and is experiencing remarkable growth. Unlike established programs where protocols are rigid or solo practices where you're building from scratch, this opportunity offers the perfect balance – joining a proven foundation while having the flexibility to influence the program's evolution.

Your practice will span the beautiful Coachella Valley region of southeastern California, serving communities including Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, La Quinta, and Palm Desert. This growing region has demonstrated a clear need for palliative care services, with the current program seeing over 50 inpatient consults monthly and steady outpatient growth. You'll be filling a vital healthcare gap for patients who would otherwise need to travel significant distances for specialized palliative care, making your role essential to the community's wellbeing.

  • Dynamic Practice Setting: Split your time between inpatient consultations throughout the 437-bed medical center and outpatient clinics located in the state-of-the-art Cancer Center
  • Ideal Work-Life Balance: Monday through Friday schedule (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) with plans for future flexibility including potential three-day weekends with weekend coverage rotation
  • Board Certification Required: Hospice and Palliative Care
  • Teaching Opportunities: Optional involvement with ACGME-accredited Family Practice and Internal Medicine residency programs, and Geriatric fellowship program, providing education and mentoring to the next generation of physicians
  • Growth-Oriented Role: This new position reflects the program's success and expansion needs, offering you the chance to help develop services and protocols while maintaining manageable patient volumes
  • Supportive Leadership Structure: Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer with strong administrative backing and a collaborative relationship with the existing palliative care physician and interdisciplinary team

The Coachella Valley's growing population and Eisenhower's reputation as the region's premier healthcare destination ensure a steady referral base, primarily from the busy hematology/oncology service that sees 200-250 new patient referrals monthly. Your role will focus approximately 60-70% on inpatient care with 30-40% outpatient services, though this balance offers flexibility based on your interests and the program's evolving needs.

This is more than just a job opportunity – it's a chance to make a meaningful difference in a growing community while building upon an already successful foundation. You'll enjoy the rare combination of professional growth, work-life balance, and the exceptional lifestyle that makes the Coachella Valley one of the most desirable places to practice medicine in the country.
