Physician Recruitment Process and Compensation Overview

Join Geisinger as a physician on a 2-year contract. Enjoy a competitive base salary with annual merit increases. Compensation ranges from $450,000 to $500,000, depending on experience and sub-specialty training. Malpractice tail coverage paid by Geisinger.  

Time off - PTO: 20 days (accrue 13.34 hours/monthly pay), 6 holidays
CME: $4500 and 15 days for prorated CME hours will get loaded based on hire date
$1000 can be rolled over every year. Total of 41 days off including PTO, holidays, CME.

Benefits - Benefits start from day 1 of employment with Geisinger. Geisinger offers three different medical plans, Dental, Vision, a Prescription Drug Plan and a Mail-Order Pharmacy. My Health rewards is a voluntary program; once you enroll and complete the steps, you will receive a $600 wellness incentive in your paycheck and another $600 wellness incentive if your spouse completes the steps. Signing Bonus/Medical Stipend/ Loan Forgiveness - Receive a $100,000 with a 3-year forgivable signing bonus, medical stipend, or loan forgiveness—your choice on how to use it.

Relocation Assistance - Geisinger fully covers the relocation costs for new providers.

401k/403b/457 - Geisinger’s contribution is vested after you’ve worked at least 1,000 hours per year for 3 years. You make your contributions to the 403(b) or 457(b) plans while all Geisinger contributions are 5% of your compensation up to $168,600 in earnings. 9% contributions for any earnings between $168,601-$345,000. All plans are through Fidelity.

Loan repayment – Geisinger qualifies for PSLF Program which is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. Under this program, you may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance due on your Federal Direct Loan Program (Direct Loan Program) loans after you have made 120 qualifying payments on those loans while employed full-time by certain public service employers.
