Clinical Component

Navigating the Clinical Component

The clinical responsibilities of this role are centered around providing comprehensive care to Pulmonology and Critical Care patients. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at GSMC is a 6-bed unit that focuses on lower acuity cases, handling approximately 3-4 patients daily. While the ICU is not equipped to manage severe respiratory failure or Level 1 trauma, the facility is open to acquiring an Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) machine if it is deemed essential for the practice. The physician will have the autonomy to manage their own ventilators and perform a full range of procedures, including bronchoscopy, offering a diverse and challenging clinical experience. There is also an opportunity to incorporate sleep medicine into the practice, supported by a well-established sleep lab and a part-time physician, Dr. Jak Mi, and a full-time Nurse Practitioner, Joanne Lewis, who manages the clinic operations. The typical call structure is 1:4, with phone consultations required, and there is flexibility to negotiate these terms to best fit the physician’s needs. Hospitalists will admit patients and run codes for you.
