Understanding the Role

Good Shepherd Medical Center is hiring a non-surgical Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join Good Shepherd Orthopedics, the leading orthopedic practice in Eastern Oregon. This is a hospital-employed outpatient role focused on the diagnosis and non-operative management of musculoskeletal conditions, working alongside an established team of orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists.

The Role

You will manage a non-surgical orthopedic patient panel, supporting the surgical team and carrying responsibility for evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing musculoskeletal care. Core responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions
  • Performing physical examinations
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging and tests
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans
  • Managing patient recovery
  • Wound care and casting
  • Performing in-office procedures including joint injections, joint aspirations, and corticosteroid administration
  • Coordinating care closely with the physical therapy team

Good Shepherd Orthopedics is the premier orthopedic services provider in Eastern Oregon, delivering current and advanced orthopedic treatment to the region. The clinic operates with extended daily hours and is supported by onsite X-ray and MRI, with a full diagnostic imaging center located across the street at the hospital. The orthopedic team also offers robotic-arm assisted joint replacement using the Stryker Mako system, which supports a strong surgical referral base for the non-surgical practice.

Service Area

Good Shepherd is the largest healthcare provider in Umatilla County. The system is based in Hermiston, Oregon, on the southern shore of the Columbia River, about 30 minutes south of the Tri-Cities. The practice draws patients from across Umatilla County and additional rural communities to the west and south, supporting consistent and varied orthopedic volume.
