You will join a team of 4 other Cardiologists who have been with the group for several years and have extensive experience. The position will have both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities but will be in the clinic 80-90% of the time. It is a Monday – Friday schedule. One half day will be dedicated to reading Echos, EKGs, etc. They usually start their day at 8:00 in the hospital rounding on their own patients. The clinic schedule starts at 9:00 and goes until 5:00.
Call is 1:6. You will have call every 6th night during the week and every 6th weekend, Friday 5:00pm – Monday 8:00am. Call is remote and usually very light. You will be on call in the hospital 1 day during the week with an NP helping with call. That day you will only see about 5 patients.
You can anticipate seeing 24-28 patients a day in the clinic. They see about 200 new patients a month in the clinic and 25 in the hospital. You will have an opportunity to ramp up quickly as most of the new patients will be sent to the new provider. In the clinic you will do procedures like Echos, Nuclear, pacemakers, Zio monitors, etc. TEEs and ETTs are done in the hospital.
Inpatient responsibilities are at Frederick Health Hospital a couple of miles away. Frederick Health Hospital is not a MedStar hospital, they are part of the Frederick Health Medical Group.
The clinic has 4 separate offices and 6 consult rooms. Two providers share an office, and the new provider will be in another office by themselves for now. The 4th office is for testing. There is a secretary for each office. There is an NP in the clinic and 1 in at the hospital 3 days a week. There is a fully staffed front office for check-ins and back office for check-outs.
