Your clinical week balances operative and clinic time in a rhythm that keeps your skills sharp without burning you out. You will spend two days per week in the operating room with dedicated block time and access to two ORs, allowing you to manage your surgical schedule efficiently. The remaining 2.5 days are devoted to clinic, where you will evaluate new patients, manage post-operative care, and build long-term relationships with patients who return to you for ongoing musculoskeletal needs.
The case mix reflects true general orthopedics. You will perform joint replacements, treat sports medicine injuries, manage fractures, and handle orthopedic trauma cases. This bread-and-butter practice allows you to use the full breadth of your training rather than narrowing into a single subspecialty. For surgeons who enjoy variety and want to remain well-rounded, this scope of practice delivers professional satisfaction day after day.
Your call responsibilities follow a 1:5 rotation shared among the five orthopedic surgeons on staff. Trauma call is included, which aligns with the hospital's Level II-III trauma designation. A paid call stipend compensates you for your availability, though the specific amount will be discussed during the interview process.
You will not practice in isolation. Five Advanced Practice Providers support the orthopedic service line across clinic, OR, and inpatient settings, handling tasks that allow you to operate at the top of your license. Full anesthesia coverage, hospitalist support, ICU services, and physical therapy round out the clinical infrastructure. A strong referral base means you will have immediate patient volume from day one.
This practice environment gives you the surgical volume and case variety to stay engaged, the support staff to work efficiently, and the technology to deliver excellent outcomes.
